I’m sure I speak for a mass of people when I say Christmas is my favorite holiday. There is something about the excitement in the weeks leading up to Christmas that radiates such pure joy. If I could, I would pull all of the stops for Christmas decor and turn my house into a freaking winter wonderland but with only a few weeks to decorate and a college budget (ha) we had to get creative this Christmas.
My parents surprised my roommates and I with a real Christmas tree at our doorstep Sunday night. We had already planned on putting out our beautiful fake one but didn’t want to miss out on the freshness of the memorable pine scent. So now we have two trees and you can only imagine how freaking excited I am (hint: my second time using the word ‘freaking’).
My roommate, Lizzie, ordered these adorable mini prints from Social Print Studio a while back and I’m so glad we brought them out and stuck them on our tree. We added candy canes for an extra Christmas touch and are all obsessed with how it turned out.
After posting videos of the tree on my Insta Story (@viclynstinson) and receiving such positive feedback, I decided to share the idea with all of you. I hope it inspired a new way to Christmas this holiday season and I’d love to see pictures of your version of our modern Christmas Tree.
As previously mentioned, I am in the process of moving into my first townhouse. We are starting to close in on the final details and I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am. Interior decorating is my soul food. I feel like I’ve been building up my Pinterest board for this moment since I made a Pinterest freshman year. The only bad thing about renting is are the decorating limitations. But with a lot of research and inspiration, you can do great things. Here are 12 things to do to make your rental feel more cozy.
There are two things I love in this world: decorating and shopping. When I heard that we were getting a Home Goods, my heart nearly stopped. I make a visit at least once a week telling myself “I’m just checking out the deals” when really I’m consciously designing my dream home (that I will, in fact, get one day). Home Goods is one of those places that makes it so difficulty to “just browse”. It’s like every time I go, I fall in love with something that I have to have. So after a month of weekly appearances, here are a few of the items I’ve picked up along the way. And consider this a sneak peek into my new home 🙂
The “Everyday” DeskThe Lady Book / What to Wear / Business Cards
This desk brings back some major memories to a younger version of myself painting her nails on her hot pink Limited 2 lap desk. It is such a great and versatile piece that I would have been crazy not to buy. And a steal for only $17!
The Blanket Basket
A cozy home means fuzzy blankets everywhere! But its unrealistic to use all of these blankets at the same time and definitely a no-no to have them sprung out all over. That is why they make these adorable baskets that sit pretty on the side of your couch. This one is by Devi Designs and it was $15.
The Tin Can
Getting our hands on this draw dropping-ly adorable trash can was a bit of a challenge. My mom and I were admiring it when another lady came up and was telling us how much her girls would love this trash can. Sorry lady but your little girls won’t appreciate this as much as two college girls who’s days are made when getting to use this teal can.
