My Everyday Beauty Essentials

One of the most fascinating things about following influencers and bloggers is getting a small look into their daily life. An aspect of their lives that has always inspired me is their beauty, skin and hair regime. I think it’s so interesting learning about the different products people use and why they love them and then eventually trying them out on your own. Today, I wanted to share with you my current beauty favorites. I may not be a hotshot influencer or blogger but I swear by these and would not recommend anything I didn’t love!

Glossifying Shampoo / Glossifying Conditioner

I recently color treated my hair for the first time and got some amazing hair care tips from my go-to girl, Darian. She is bad ass at balayage and recommended that I switch to L’ANZA healing haircare. Before, I was just using drugstore products even though I knew they weren’t doing anything for my hair.  But Y’all, this new stuff is amazing. I noticed a change in my hair after the first wash. Yes, it is expensive but yes it is worth it. The bottles are not as big as average drugstore brands but I’ve been using the same bottles since September and am just starting to run out (I wash my hair every 3-4 days). I decided to go with the “Smooth” healing formula since my curly hair is prone to frizz and damage.

Miracle Leave-In / Wet Brush

I know I’m late to the It’s a 10-Wet Brush party but better late than never, right? I’ve used It’s a 10 on and off but never felt convinced by its powers and hated paying for it. After moving in with two girls with very different hair types who swear by these products, I decided to give it a try. I switched over my entire hair-care routine last September (^) and will probably never go back to using cheap drugstore products. The quality and life of my hair have changed for the better. The leave in conditioner is a miracle worker for my (always) knotted hair and leaves it soft to the touch. I was never adamant about yanking through my hair with a regular brush before I switched over to the wet brush. You can hear the difference and minimum breakage compared to that of an average brush. [Tip: be sure to only use hair products, besides shampoo, on the tips of your hair. NEVER apply anything but shampoo to your scalp or it will weigh your hair down.]

Bubble Foam Cleanser / Clarifying Lotion

I’ve always loved and trusted Clean & Clear because it has always worked wonders on my dry skin. I also love the fact that it is made by Johnson & Johnson because if we can trust them to take care of our precious babies’ skin we can trust them for anything. This bubble foam cleanser is light on my skin and works well to prevent acne. I’ve also been using the same bottle since December of last year (score!). There’s nothing that I love more than a good toner. For some reason, my face doesn’t feel 100% clean until I brush a cotton ball and this Clinique toner across it. I’ve tried lots of toner brands but this one is my favorite and has given me the best results. *I don’t recommend using toner every day because it may dry out your face.*

Spot Treatment / Acne Medication

I’ve already raved about this two-step acne spot treatment here back in 2015 and will continue to rave about it today. I’ve been using it since 2009 and it has been consistent with what it promises: clear skin. Anytime you feel a pimple building up, put a dab of the salicylic acid (silver tube) and then a dab of the persa gel (white) and BAM! The next day you will wake and the pimple won’t be there or it will have already drastically decreased in size. Add it to your pre-existing nighttime ritual by applying it before moisturizers or serums!

Clay Foundation / Dual Finish Powder

I’m not the type to wear a full face of makeup often, (it’s usually just an eyebrow pencil, mascara, and eyeliner) but when I do, I always use these products together. My cheeks are normally very rosy and I could never find a foundation to mask them before I came across this Tarte Amazonian clay (I use light-medium neutral). It has a strong pigment while also remaining very light and airy. It pairs perfectly with my favorite Lancome dual-finish powder (I use Ecru II).

Cashmere Mist / Airbrush Legs

My friends make fun of me for my boujee deodorant but I love it. I’ve never been a fan of the way Dove or Secret smelt after a full day of wear but I can honestly say this Donna Karan one takes gold. Even after a vigorous workout, it smells like clean linens haha. Now I can’t say I love it enough to spend my last $27 on deodorant but it’s definitely a possibility. I’ve always been a fan of self-tanning lotion because my skin is naturally on the pale side and burns instead of tans. I love all of Sally Hansen’s products but this leg makeup is my go-to for events! It seriously is the best and leaves my legs with a tan, more defined look.
