As a girl who has grown to appreciate how bad ass women truly are, I have adopted another description of myself – a feminist. I believe that we don’t get enough credit for all the shit we have put up and continuously are frazzled about as time goes on. One thing that really made me angry was when a guy, who seems to highly respect girls, took to his tumblr page to rant on about how feminism is just a selfish act derived by women. He even went as far as bringing out the dictionary term and explaining how this “proves” that women want to rise higher than men. After seeing this, I realized that some people truly don’t understand the meaning of a feminist.

A feminist is a person, like Chimamanda said, “Is a person who believes in the social and political equality of the sexes.” This doesn’t mean that we want more recognition or a higher standard than men, it means we want one equal to theirs.

“So what is more offensive? A little girl saying fuck or the fucking on equal and sexes way.”

You might be wondering where this is all coming from and why I am randomly writing about feminism. Today, I came across this adorable, almost scary, video of six little girls dressed up as princesses getting their message across by swearing worse than sailors. They do this to remind society that we shouldn’t be taken back when we hear innocent girls dropping F-bombs but we should pay closer attention to the fact that 1 out of every 5 women will either be sexually assaulted or taken advantage of by men in their lifetime. Scary, I know. Watch this video and if it doesn’t make you rethink your stance on feminism then I don’t know what will.
