Remembering Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta, a man who put high society in haute couture, has died at the age of 82.

Regarding the reason for his death, everyone should remember him as the incredible man he was. Oscar has dressed every elegant woman, from first lady Jaqueline Kennedy to Amal Alamuddin Clooney. Laura Bush remembers him as, “The man who made women look and feel beautiful.”

“We live in an era of globalization and the era of the woman. Never in the history of the world have women been more in control of their destiny.”

I’ve never owned an Oscar de la Renta dress or had the graces of wearing one of his designs but I do remember my first interaction with his brand. I was shopping one day when I found this beautifully constructed white silk robe. It was breathtaking. I remember putting it on and feeling like a million dollars. Thanks to one robe. I begged and begged my mom to buy it for me but she rambled on about how I already owned so many. I highly regret not paying the eighty dollars out of my pocket.
